On this page you are able to take a glimpse of what life is like in our classroom.


During our last term together we will be exploring...

Oceans and Pirates. 

The main stories we will be sharing are:

  • Billy's Bucket;
  • Rainbow Fish;
  • Commotion in the Ocean;
  • Sharing a Shell;
  • Pirates love underpants.




Our theme for this half term is all about...



During this topic we will be looking at:

  • Different habitats and creatures;
  • Life cycles and changes;
  • Patterns;
  • 2D and 3D shapes including identifying and discussing their features;
  • Using numbers up to 20 and beyond (including simple addition and subtraction);
  • Reading and understanding simple sentences;
  • Reading and writing ‘tricky’ words;
  • Creating our own stories;

This week we have been sharing the story of…

Handa’s Surprise.


Throughout the week we have been:

  • Exploring Google Earth- We looked at our village and the types of building we have including our houses. We even took a trip to Africa!
  • Tasting lots of different fruits (pineapple, mango, papaya, orange, banana, passion fruit etc) and used our favourite ones to create a bar chart. Check out our twitter page to find out the results @Class1LN

  • Looking at healthy eating

Not a wet and windy welly walk Wednesday but a wonderful warm welly walk wednesday

We have enjoyed our theme of Jack and the Beanstalk. We also looked at a story called Jack and the Incredibly Meanstalk. We are so glad that the meanstalk became kind.

‘Winter Wonderland and 'Traditional Tales'

During this topic we will be exploring:

We have explored many fantastic learning experiences connected to this story.

We have been:

  • Exploring measuring;
  • Writing our own stories;
  • Creating some fabulous art work;
  • Working in our new baby clinic role play;
  • Tasting porridge;
  • Plus much more...





Our theme is week has been...

Chinese New Year.

We have experienced many wonderful learning opportunities by exploring this festival.

We have been:

  • Sharing the story of 'The Great Race';
  • Developing our fine motor skills by using chopsticks;
  • Trying lots of new foods;
  • Taking part in a dragon parade;
  • Plus much more...

Our story this week is...Little Red Hen.

We have been learning many different things inspired by this story, from the importance of helping others to making our own bread.

We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story of The Three Little Pigs. 


We have engaged in many learning opportunities from building houses (and knocking them down) to creating our very own pig buns.



We have been acting out the story using puppets before using our phonic knowledge to produce writing about the story.



We have been learning about finding one less than a given number and subtraction (with some help from the Big Bad Wolf!)

Diwali Week

The children have been learning about the festival of light through lots of different media.

We have shared the story of Rama and Sita, made diya lamps, explored rangoli patterns and tasted Indian food.
