We are a class of 29 happy and hardworking children! Our teacher is Mrs Wright and our teaching assistant is Mrs Hayes.
We will update our website with photographs and information of our class' learning all year!
Our Euro tournament teams are:
Spain and Wales!
We will be watching to see how far in the competition they get!
On Friday, the whole school took part in a French themed day because it was the first day of the Euro football tournament which is being held in France this year. Even though we have never done French before, we all tried our best and learned some new French words. Mr Sherman was really impressed with our class so we won a French Buzz Lightyear toy to play with in choice time!
For our homework last week, we had to create a game which could help us learn and practise our 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables. We had lots of fun playing them this afternoon and enjoyed it so much, continued playing them during our choice time! Thank you to all the parents who helped the children create their games - they are brilliant!
Our caterpillars have finally arrived at school.!!We can't wait to watch them transform into butterflies over the next few weeks. There are five altogether so Mrs Wright would like us to think of five different names so we can name them.
We had a fab day in Eureka! Everyone was really well behaved and enjoyed exploring the different sections especially the 'All About Me' section. Did you know that we produce about a cup full of snot everyday but end up swallowing most of it? No neither did I! Gross eh? Did you know that the tallest man on Earth was from Turkey and was over 8 foot tall? How amazing is that!
We're all very excited for our trip to Eureka! We can't wait to explore the 'All about me' floor learning even more about the human body for our science topic Complete Athlete!! We'll also be able to learn a bit about plants for our next topic which is all about Nature!
Remember to wear your school uniform, bring a bottle of water and a packed lunch in a bag (if you are not having school grab-a-bag). You need to be at school for 8:15am so we can leave promptly at 8:30am.
Well done to everyone from Class 4 who made and wrote a birthday card for the Queen! They were all absolutely fabulous and all children had clearly put time and effort into making her card special! The school birthday card winners will be revealed on her birthday! They are all being sent off to Buckingham Palace as we speak so they arrive in time for her birthday on Thursday. I'm sure she will love them all!
Next week we will be planted seeds which have been into space. How exciting!
We are starting to read George's marvellous medicine as our home time story this week. So far, we all think grandma is rather horrible! This will link with our instructions in literacy!
We all dressed up as a book character for world book day. Look at our fantastic costumes! We enjoyed doing lots of activities based around books and reading. We read with some Y6 children and we talked about our favourite books with them. We wrote about why we dressed up as our characters and thought about our favourite books!
Literacy Poetry January 2016
This week we are learning all about poems and will be writing our own based on an animal theme using rhyming couplets at the end of the week. We have been practicing read some poems aloud. It was very tricky and nerve-wracking but Mrs Wright was very impressed with us all! A few of us were brave enough to be filmed performing them. We hope you like them!
Our new topic for the next few weeks is Animal Antics. We will be learning all about local animals and different animal babies and adults. We will be learning about what animals need to survive and how to look after animals.
In literacy this week, we have been learning all about instructions. We have been writing our own instructions on 'how to make a paper poppy'.
In literacy, we have been learning all about the traditional tale the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We have been ordering and retelling the story orally ready for our Big Writing. Next, we will be creating our own version of the story! We will be creating our own enemy character instead of the troll and will change the goats into another animal of our choice! We will use story maps to do this then write our own fantastic versions in Big Write!
Today, we had a Roald Dahl themed day as it would've been his birthday yesterday (13th September). All our activities were related to a Roald Dahl book! We tasted lots of DAHL-LICIOUS treats to give us inspiration to design our very own 'Chocolate room' from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We used our imaginations to create our own exciting and fun dreams like BFG does for children. We used our art and cutting skills to create our very own Roly-Poly bird from the Twits. As Matilda loves reading, we wrote our own book reviews for our favourite books! For snacktime, we all enjoyed some delicious and juicy peaches from James and the Giant Peach and in PE, our teams games were related to the Enormous crocodile! Now we have begun reading our class story of Fantastic Mr Fox! Phew! What an exciting day we have had!!!!
Read, read, read!!
So many children have already listened to our school rules and are reading so much already! This is very exciting, keep it up! I can't wait to hear all about the books you are reading! Remember to read for 15 minutes a night and to ask an adult to write it in your reading record! :)
Everyone has worked super hard over the past few days and has settled in so quickly. Thank you to all the parents who have helped them become independent already in the mornings! It is really helping! I'm already really proud of you Class 4! :) Keep up the hard work Class 4, you are fab!!
