Welcome to Darton Primary School!

Hello and welcome to the Darton Primary School website, which we hope you will find informative and exciting. We are a large, popular and very welcoming school on the outskirts of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, catering for pupils from 3 to 11 years old. Our new school was opened in 2007 on a new site very close to the old Darton Primary School and we are really lucky to be able to do our work and learn together in excellent facilities both inside and outside the building.

We are a successful school with a large teaching, support and administrative staff, committed to “Creating a Foundation for Future Success” and the every child matters agenda. Working closely with all members of the school community and local community we make a positive contribution to the attainment and personal development of the children in our care.

OFSTED 2010 commented   "The school provides a good education for its pupils and a welcoming, caring and inclusive environment in which pupils feel very safe. The vast majority of pupils enjoy school and achieve well in many aspects of their learning and development ....The pupils often showed a sense of joy and excitement about learning, with spontaneous expressions of delight during lessons. They take pride in their work and concentrate well."

We believe very strongly in a meaningful partnership with parents and carers and the school and we involve them on all possible occasions in their child's learning and development, supporting each other to ensure each child develops their full potential.
