Class 4 - Mrs Walker

Welcome to Class 4

We are a Year 2 class of 27 children.  Our teacher is Mrs Walker and Mrs Hinchliffe and Mrs Lodge work in class at different times.

Summer Term

Welcome back! We have a busy term ahead!

Summer Term 1

We have been learning all about what school was like in the Victorian era and how the Education Act brought about a big change during that period.  We will be sharpening our sewing skills in design technology and working hard on our computer skills, using the laptops to research and create simple presentations of our work.

Summer Term 2

This term we are going to become Eco Warrriors!  We will be learning all about the planet and how we can help reduce pollution.  Have a look at the homework grid below for some extra ideas to support this learning this half term.

Autumn Term

This term our topic is 'Our United Kingdom'.  We will be working hard on our map skills and finding different places in the United Kingdom.  We will also be developing our knowledge of the artist Bridget Riley.  Keep an eye on this web page and Twitter to see some of our work and more information on what is coming up this term.

PE

Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursdays.  Please make sure you have your PE kit in school and earrings are not worn.

Reading

We read every day in Class 4.  At the moment we read as a whole class and we have been enjoying some traditional tales (with an alternative spin on the original story).  We do still do phonics and we have a book that we listen to at the end of each day.  At the moment, our class 'reading for pleasure' book is Mr Penguin and the Lost Treasure by Alex T. Smith.  The children will have a reading book and the option of changing a library book each week.  If you would like some extra ideas for reading, take a look at the recommended reads on https://www.thereaderteacher.com/year2 and at the recommended reading list below.
