SUMMER TERM
For the whole of the summer term our theme will be Estadio Olympico. In this topic we will be learning about the Ancient Greeks, the Olympic Games and how to be an athlete.
There will be a focus on design and technology throughout this topic, including a range of preparing and cooking authentic Greek dishes and designing and building a model of a new Olympic stadium. We will also be having a visit from Hepp DT to develop our woodwork skills.
In science we will be learning about the skeleton and muscular system of the human body and how nutrition impacts sport and day-to-day life.
In maths the key areas will be shape, measurement and statistics.
In literacy we will be writing a persuasive travel brochure and exploring a range of poetry.
SPRING 2
This half-term's theme is I'm from Darton, get me out of here! We will be learning about natural disasters around the world and supporting the British Red Cross to think of ways to help people in those communities that are affected.
In science we will be investigating the properties of different materials and deciding which ones we could use to make different equipment.
In maths we will be learning about area and fractions.
In literacy we will be writing twisted fairy tales and instructions about how to use our helpful inventions.
SPRING 1
This half-term's theme is 'Land Before Time' where we will be learning about dinosaurs and different areas of science, including fossils, plants, life cycles and classification keys.
We will also be doing a project on how environmental changes can impose dangers to living things, and ways we can help animals and our planet.
In Literacy we will be writing our own fables and an creating our own dinosaurs and then writing an explanation text.
In Maths we will be focussing on multiplication and division and fractions.
In PSHE our focus will be 'Thinking Positive'.
In French our learning will be linked to food (aliments) and drinks (boissons).
