Nursery - Mrs Goodall

This half term we will be learning all about growing!

We will be getting some tiny caterpillars and watching them grow and change into beautiful butterflies.

We will also be planting beans and taking care of them as they grow.

In phonics we will be continuing with phase 1 and hearing initial sounds and learning to blend sounds together. Some of us are now ready to move onto phase 2 where we will learn new letter sounds and begin to blend simple words.

In maths we will be exploring shape and size and we will begin to compare the size of objects and learn to place things in size order.

We will also be doing a sponsored Peppa Pig walk for Save The Children on the 1st May where we will be walking to Longfields.

This half term our theme is…

TO AFFINITY AND BEYOND!

These are our main stories for the next 5 weeks:

  • Aliens love underpants;
  • Whatever next;
  • Man on the Moon;
  • How to catch a Star;
  • Alien Tea on Planet Zum Zee.

Our theme this half term is...

Winter time and Chinese New Year!

Welcome back to nursery,

we hope you all had a fantastic half term holiday.

This half term we will be thinking about all the firework and bonfire displays you visited and we will create beautiful pastel artwork to represent fireworks in the night sky.

We will then be looking at stories by the Author Julia Donaldson

such as the Gruffalo, Gruffalo's Child and Stickman.

This will lead us into our Christmas theme towards the end of the half term in which we will read Christmas Stories, decorate Christmas trees, and have visits from our cheeky elf!

Our Nursery Christmas performance will take place on the 8th of December.

In phonics we are still working on phase 1. Learning to discriminate instrumental, environmental and animal sounds as well as beginning to hear initial sounds in words and oral blending and segmenting in preparation for reading and writing simple words.

Reminder to Parents

Please remember to send children to school in suitable clothing

as the weather becomes colder.

It is very important that they have a warm winter coat, hats and gloves

as a lot of the learning in EYFS takes place outdoors.

It is also important that children continue to bring wellies and waterproof coats to enable

them to access outdoor provision in wet weather.
