Summer Fayre - Wednesday 24th June at 3.15pm
We need your help now!!
We are in much need of raffle prizes, tombola items, quality donations of toys, books, bric-a-brac....anything that we could sell on a stall.
We also need your help on the day!
If you can help set up during the day or serve on a stall, please let Christine know. To enable us to make this event a success, we need as much help as possible.
Please put the date in your diary and volunteer a little bit of your time. We would really appreciate it.
Paint a Pot workshops run this week by Christine and Jill Moxon (parent Governor), have been enjoyed by children and parents. Funds raised will be used by the PTFA to fund future events/trips.
Parent Teachers & Friends Association
What is the PTFA?
We are a group of people including parents, teachers and friends of the school who help to organise events, both fund raising and social.
The Committee
Chair person - Stacy Richardson
Secretary - Julie Warris
Treasurer - Julie Warris
What are the aims of the PTFA?
We aim to raise funds to buy things that will benefit the children, that the school could not otherwise afford, to organise social events for children for parents and their friends.
Who can belong to the PTFA?
Anyone who has children at the school or who works at the school is automatically a member of the PTFA.
How can we find out more?
Each year there is an Annual General Meeting to which all parents and staff are invited. This is a good way of meeting people for the first time and hearing about the PTFA achievements and plans.
Committee Meetings are held during term time but you don’t need to be a member to help out. Come along to a meeting to find out more.
Newcomers will be made most welcome.
Planning & Organisation
In the informal atmosphere, the committee openly discuss activities and generate new ideas. It is at these committee meetings that school projects are considered with a view to PTFA Funding. In joining the committee, this is your opportunity to have your say. Committee meetings generally last for just over 1 hour but obviously this is dependable on what is on the agenda for discussion.
Be part of the PTFA team
Being a member of the PTFA will give you lots of pleasure and enhance your family’s relationship with the school. Mums and Dads, Staff and friends all combine as individuals to form a friendly school community and as Year 6 parents leave the school, so new Reception parents join. Everyone is made welcome at any stage through their involvement with the school and it is never too late to get involved. We are always on the lookout for new members with new and fresh ideas or helpers to run a stall at the Summer Fayre for half an hour whatever you can put in – it will be appreciated.
Fund Raising Events
Over the years the generosity of all those associated with the School has enabled the PTFA to donate many thousands of pounds to benefit the pupils. We have a friendly relaxed approach to our meetings and welcome anyone to come along to see for themselves. Previous fundraising activities include the Easter Eggbola, the Summer Fayre and The Christmas Fayre.
Fun & Social Events
It is not all about raising funds all the time. The social events are equally important and give the children and adults opportunity to enjoy many friendships. The school Disco for instance is very popular for all the children as is the Carols by Torchlight. The PTFA have previously organised trips for the whole school to The Blue Planet and to the Pantomime at Christmas. They also provide class Christmas gifts and a small egg at Easter.
Where does the money go
You will see from the information below that every penny is spent on much needed equipment and extra treats for ALL children within school:
Whole school Blue Planet Trip in 2011 (contribution): £2000
New PA system in the School Hall: £250
Costumes for the Christmas Production: £100
Jubilee Coins, bunting and party food: £860
Contribution to School Fund in 2012 for Year 6 leavers gifts, Easter Eggs and books: £820
Whole School Pantomime Trip and Nursery Entertainment: In 2012 £2950 and in 2013 £3500
Chill Out Club craft materials and games: £200
Christmas gifts for all classes and Foundation Unit in 2013 & 2014: £450
Easter Eggs in 2014: £120
We would kindly ask that parents come along to the meetings we hold to share your ideas about where the money can be best spent. We very much believe in the pupil voice within school and we are currently in consultation with our Student and Eco Council members who collate ideas and opinions from their class members. We are trying to look at new ideas at different times throughout the academic year too. The Pantomime was not possible in 2014 due to it being such a busy time in the run up to Christmas with so many other events taking place within school, plus the cost of transport and ticket prices and also availability at the individual theatres. We will share with all our parents any new ideas that the children, staff and PTFA members decide on and we can assure you that all children in school will benefit from the money raised.
We hope you will continue to support us by helping out as and when you are able, consider joining us at our meetings and support us at our fundraising events.
If you have any fundraising ideas or suggestions for the PTFA or you would like further information please feel free to contact us via this form.
